People’s different ways of using words to connect or to separate themselves has always interested me. That interest informed my early career teaching English and my media and public relations work. More recently, it has motivated my training and twenty-year practice as a counsellor and psychotherapist.

A related quest to make authentic links between theology and the real challenges of everyday life has informed my years of leadership at Newbold church. My passion has been for the use of words in Christian discourse – preaching, praying and worship - which will both express and nurture grown-up Christian living in people’s homes and workplaces.

I am constantly fascinated by the relationships between women and men, parents and children, the religious and the secular, gay and straight Christians, those ‘within’ and those on the margins of the church.
